Immopicknick 2026: REALITIQ between networking, bee sting cake and new ideas

REALITIQ joins IMMMA and ivalu for a relaxed summer networking event

Large real estate trade fairs, international PropTech conferences and packed event calendars are just as much a part of REALITIQ as smaller events where personal exchange takes centre stage. That’s why we were particularly excited to join the Immopicknick, organised by IMMMA, the independent real estate newsroom, and ivalu, for the first time on 27 August.

Set against the beautiful backdrop of Schloss Pötzleinsdorf near Vienna, the evening brought together networking, discussions, food and even a little sporting activity. For us, it was a great opportunity to catch up with familiar faces, make new connections and talk to people from a wide range of areas within the real estate industry.

REALITIQ was represented by Carmen Rezac, Head of Marketing, and Zeynab Liraki, Senior Developer of our software. For Zeynab, it was a particularly enjoyable opportunity to experience the real estate industry firsthand at an event and connect with people working in different areas of the sector.

Between Wienerwald and the real estate industry
An evening where networking was deliberately allowed to be a little more relaxed

The Immopicknick was the complete opposite of crowded exhibition halls and conversations squeezed into 15-minute slots. The relaxed atmosphere, the green surroundings and the manageable size of the event allowed conversations to develop naturally.

That was exactly what made the evening special for us. Instead of rushing from one appointment to the next, there was time for longer conversations, spontaneous encounters and topics that simply emerged in the moment.

And while, as a software company, we naturally enjoy talking about digital twins, AI and real estate marketing, it was just as interesting to listen and hear what is currently on the minds of people working in the industry.

New conversations, new opportunities
From architecture and real estate software to ideas for new developments

Throughout the evening, several exciting conversations and new points of contact emerged for REALITIQ.

We spoke with an architect, gained interesting insights into a major real estate CRM that also includes facility management in its solution, and discussed requirements and opportunities in the new development sector.

New developments in particular brought up topics that are especially interesting for our future product development. We can already reveal one thing: a flat finder may also play a role in our product offering in the future.

But we don’t want to give away too much just yet.

A little sporting action in between
Anyone needing a break from networking could put their ball skills to the test

There was also plenty of opportunity to take a break from conversations and drinks. A football goal and a basketball hoop gave guests the chance to do something other than talk about software, real estate and the latest developments in the industry.

Whether any hidden sporting talent was discovered, we’ll leave open for now. What we can say, however, is that the relaxed atmosphere was a big part of what made the event so enjoyable for us.

Sweet prospects – with a small catch
Why our Kaiserschmarrn vouchers suddenly became vouchers for bee sting cake

Of course, we had also prepared something for the Immopicknick. At our stand, we handed out vouchers under the motto “Sweet prospects” – for Kaiserschmarrn.

So far, so straightforward.

Or so we thought.

When the first guests arrived at the food truck with our vouchers, they were in for a small surprise: by that point, there was no Kaiserschmarrn available anymore. Instead, there was only Bee Sting Cake, or Bienenstich as we call it in German. Our vouchers could still be used for it, which would not have been a problem in itself – except that we didn’t know about the change at that point either.

So while our vouchers very clearly featured both the words and an image of Kaiserschmarrn, some guests were sent back to us by the food truck to ask what exactly their voucher was actually for.

In short: the voucher said Kaiserschmarrn. The food truck said Bee Sting Cake. And we initially knew only half of the story.

After a brief moment of dessert-related communication chaos, everything was quickly cleared up and the vouchers could still be redeemed. Our Kaiserschmarrn voucher had spontaneously turned into a Bee Sting Cake voucher – not quite what we had planned, but definitely one of the stories we’ll remember from our first Immopicknick.

And perhaps the most important lesson of the evening: when it comes to event catering, be prepared for anything. Even a spontaneous dessert change.

Small and relaxed or large and international?
Why the mix of different event formats matters to REALITIQ

The Immopicknick reminded us once again how differently networking can work. Smaller events like this create space for conversations that might never happen at a large trade fair. There is more time for each other, a more personal atmosphere and often the chance to discuss topics that weren’t originally on anyone’s agenda.

At the same time, large international events are just as important to us. Our next event will definitely be quite a contrast: PropTech Connect in London.

After a relaxed evening in the Vienna Woods, REALITIQ is heading to an international metropolis and one of Europe’s major meeting points for the real estate and PropTech industry. There, the scale is different, the audience is more international and the conversations take place in a completely different environment.

And that’s exactly the mix we value. Large events help us discover developments, markets and potential partners beyond our own region. Smaller formats create proximity and personal conversations – and sometimes it is precisely there that the most exciting new ideas and connections emerge.

Thank you for a relaxed evening
Our first Immopicknick definitely won’t be our last event of this kind

A big thank you to IMMMA and ivalu for organising and inviting us to this special sundowner event. We felt very welcome at our first Immopicknick, had many great conversations and took away plenty of new ideas and inspiration for REALITIQ.

Next stop: London – and a direct transition from the Vienna Woods to the international PropTech scene.

Whether a dessert voucher will unexpectedly turn into a completely different dessert there as well remains to be seen.
